Warhammer Quest Tile Room - Gorgut's Lair

Behold mighty Gorgut's lair, it's been hovering near the front of the queue waiting for paint, but there was always another piece which needed doing. Once I'd splashed a little paint on this really came together, pool of blood by the stairs isn't really visible on the photo, but it looks pretty cool up close. The ork icon is a 3D forgeworld icon I got a few years back, seemed ideal for the project. There are a handful of tiles left to complete, but the 3D rooms project is nearly wrapped up. Have nearly all the monsters in the monster tables based and undercoated, so still loads of painting left to complete.

Heresy miniatures have down a fantastic job with this sculpt, it's not an easy model to put together, this being a metal cast with incredibly thin legs there was little room for pinning so I had build a scaffold for it to rest on whilst gluing on the legs. I had a look and noticed they have replaced it with a resin version which should be considerably easier to work with. Anyway, loved painting it and should be fun introducing it to quests in the future.

So I've completed most of the easy tiles, I'm now working on the more complex objective and dungeon rooms.

... worth it though, like how they've turned out. It's spurred me on to put a little extra effort into the remaining tiles.

I've started replacing the cardboard tiles that came with them game. These are resin and are a faithful recreation of the originals. Here we have three corridors and the 'torture chamber'.

Nurgle Sorcerers - Lord on daemonic mount and wormpile

A few months ago I bought this model from Hell Dorado miniatures. He was going to be a unit filler, but  when I got the model he was a pretty good size fit for a standard warrior so I decided to paint him up as a second sorcerer.

Nurgle Chaos Hounds

Some hounds I painted up today. Hardly an update, but needed these painted for the up coming campaign.

Nurgle chose marauders

Mostly finished painting the 50 marauders. I'll come back to add some flourishes in the future and include that all important third colour to unify the army, but want to crack on with converting my warriors, as there's a lot of work left to do there.

Really enjoyed converting every single model in here. Not sure I'll ever do another unit though.

 Not used as a lord, reckon he looks better in the marauder unit.

Nurgle marauders

As much as I would like Tamurkhan to ride into battle above Bubebolos followed solely by a horde of feculent monstrous beasts he'll need some meat-bags to throw against unworthy foe. So here are some war dogs and marauders.

Here is a small section of some 80 models I'm building up. Partly the reason my updates have been a little scarce. The sorcerer has already been replaced by another more appropriate model. 

The Nurgling is a magnetised wound marker :)

Another update today, the result of too much caffeine.

My idea was to try and build up a base of washes, detailing his unpleasantness then began dry brushing / detailing on the rest of the highlights. It remains to be seen if this is an effective way to paint so much flaccid and wrinkled skin. This really is a disgusting model   *grins*

WoC Army shot

Just returned from the States so another lean update. I've finished the Sorc / bsb model. I think this guy works nicely as either and I'll be including a magnetised banner for the latter.

Glazing 

This was my first attempt at using a glaze. I found it gives material such as skin and specifically leather and animals an organic feel, which I found difficult to achieve with layering. Although I regret this photo doesn't do it justice, it's dull.


The model needs work, but it's one I'll come back to when I get a little more confident.

Warhammer - Troll

I've been busy this month, but here is an update anyway. 

This was the model I was going to use as Throgg, but I found an auction on eBay which I couldn't pass up so the model below I could also use as the king of Trolls, a 54mm stone Troll. 

Anyway I guess he doesn't have to be the biggest Troll, although being the king of trolls it would help. He does however need to be the smartest Troll and I still reckon the one the right looks full of hate and intelligent malice.
